The way to responsibility is through knowledge
In public institutions, through numerous research studies and monitoring of activities in nature, knowledge about the values of the areas they manage is gathered, which serves as a basis for long-term management plans. Their primary goal is to protect the biological, geological, landscape and cultural diversity of the protected area.
The visitor centre of the Public Institution Nature of the Šibenik-Knin County is a place where you can learn a great deal about other protected areas on the territory of the Šibenik-Knin County including one nature monument, two national parks and three nature parks, six significant landscapes and about sixty Natura 2000 sites.
Knowledge is shared with everyone in order to encourage pride in regional and national values as well as support efforts to preserve them.
As part of the project Tourism Valorization of the St Anthony’s Channel in Šibenik – 2nd phase, four thematic education programmes were developed; they are intended for four different target groups of students, both children and adults (preschool - elementary school-secondary school and adults). They were given recognisable and attractive names in order to encourage people, especially children, to reflect on their personal contribution to the preservation of biodiversity, natural and cultural values primarily in the context of native regions but then they should be viewed from a global perspective as well.
