St Anthony's Channel Visitor Center, designed as a contemporary space where education and entertainment intertwine, enables visitors of all ages to explore the natural and cultural heritage of the Šibenik-Knin County in an innovative way. It focuses on the natural beauty of the St Anthony’s Channel and the mouth of the Krka River, as well as other protected areas. Multimedia displays, interactive installations, and virtual reality provide an unforgettable experience that inspires and educates every visitor. Let's explore!
Our exhibition content not only educates but also inspires visitors to connect with nature and become more aware of the need for its preservation. The central part of the exhibition space is dedicated to the underwater world, with detailed views of marine ecosystems, coral reefs, and rare and protected species living in the Adriatic Sea. Through touchscreens and interactive models, visitors have the opportunity to engage in the exploration of underwater habitats and marine life. Dioramas that faithfully depict life scenes from nature, such as animals in the underwater world, also attract a lot of attention.
Virtual reality devices that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the natural and cultural values of the St Anthony's Channel and the mouth of the Krka River are an absolute hit among visitors. This technology provides an immediate and interactive way to explore the depths of the sea, diverse ecosystems, and historical sites, making education an exciting adventure. With the help of virtual reality, you can "swim" with fish, explore sunken ships, and see underwater caves, all without getting wet. These experiences are especially popular among children and young people, but they also attract adult visitors who want to experience something new and different. Each virtual tour is carefully designed to provide an authentic underwater experience.
Education programs are designed and organized according to the age groups of children and adults, and the material is adapted to each age group. Four thematic programs for four target groups comprise a total of 16 different education programs that are approved by the Ministry of Education and Science because they fully follow the National Curriculum for Primary and Secondary Schools by linking science, curricular, and cross-curricular topics with practical and field teaching.
The new school year is coming soon; make sure to reserve one working day (2 full hours) for educating your students in the Center with the help of our educators and interpreters.
For adults, we provide interpretive walks through the channel in collaboration with scientists, institutes, and higher education institutions; we organize lectures and presentations of various research in our modernly equipped multimedia hall.
Besides natural beauties, the center also highlights the cultural values of the area. One of the important segments is the display of historical events through multimedia installations and interactive exhibitions. You can learn more about daily life in past times or explore archaeological finds that testify to the rich history of this region.
Additionally, the center has a souvenir shop where you can buy authentic themed and unique souvenirs that reflect tradition and cultural values of the Šibenik-Knin County.
St Anthony's Channel Visitor Center can be visited by everyone, including people with disabilities. In addition to the central building that is accessible to people with disabilities, the center also offers special amenities, such as a path for the blind and visually impaired. It is situated on the part of the promenade from Škar Cove towards the center and has five stations with descriptions of the attractions of the channel in Croatian and English Braille. This path allows blind and visually impaired people to enjoy the natural and cultural beauties of the St Anthony's Channel in a safe and informative way.
Educational and resting zones allow visitors to stop during a walk and relax near the sea. Three resting zones along the promenade offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy the beneficial scent of the sea and pine trees, creating the perfect environment to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The amphitheater, located directly next to the center, provides space for holding education, performances, and open-air presentations. Located right next to the terrace, there is also a children's playground, intended for the youngest visitors of the center. Parents can relax while their children play and have fun on the playground.
The combination of education and entertainment makes St Anthony's Channel Visitor Center an ideal place for family visits, school excursions, and all lovers of nature and Šibenik.
